Fastmount Very Low Profile VLP Clips | La Tienda Naval

Very Low Profile Range

With only 3 mm of gap needed between panel and structure, the Fastmount Very Low Profile (VLP) range is the solution for those impossible corners on a boat where literally nothing else fits. We use it extensively on classic sailboat refits and on vessels where the hull has very tight shapes at the bow and stern. If you have already ruled out the Low Profile because it still will not fit, this is your range.

  • Hull linings in bow and stern areas with tight geometry
  • Panels over structural steel or aluminium bulkheads
  • Direct linings on fibreglass surfaces without intermediate framework
  • Decorative panels in narrow superyacht corridors
  • Interior finishes over acoustic insulation bonded to the hull

A trick that works really well: apply the VLP male with mounting adhesive onto the back of a 1.5 mm teak veneer laminated to 3 mm plywood. You get an ultra-thin panel with a premium look that snaps on and off directly over the insulated hull. Several of our customers in Mallorca have used this combination with spectacular results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only 3 mm gap? Will the clip show through?

No. The VLP design is virtually flat. The female sits flush with the mounting surface and the male barely protrudes from the panel. The result is a minimal profile that does not interfere with anything.

Does it have the same retention as the Standard?

Retention is slightly lower than the Standard range, but more than enough for lightweight and medium-sized panels. For panels up to 1 m? in vertical position or on ceilings, it works perfectly.

Can I use it directly on fibreglass?

Yes. The female can be screwed or epoxy-bonded directly to the fibreglass laminate. This is one of the most common applications on sailboats where there is no timber frame behind the panel.

Combine these clips with our thin okoume marine plywood or teak veneers for a luxury finish at minimum thickness.
