Frequently asked questions
Are Fastmount and other generic clips compatible with each other?
No. Fastmount clips and other generic clips are not interchangeable. Each manufacturer has its own engagement system with different dimensions and mechanisms. If you start a project with one system, you must complete it with the same one. Mixing clips from different manufacturers compromises alignment and load capacity.
Can Z-clips be used on ceilings?
No. Z-clips work by gravity: the panel rests on the lower edge of the clip. On a ceiling (panel upside down), there is no force holding the panel. For ceilings and non-vertical surfaces, you need a system with positive mechanical engagement such as Fastmount.
Can I use Velcro as a temporary solution while I decide?
Yes, industrial Velcro can serve as a provisional solution to test the position of the panels before the final installation with clips. Bear in mind that the Velcro adhesive can leave residue on surfaces, so protect the decorative faces with masking tape before applying the Velcro.
Who are the other distributors and how are they related to other generic clips?
Other distributors SL is a company based in (Barcelona) that acts as a distributor of other generic clips in Spain. These distributors do not manufacture the clips; they import them from other generic clip makers (Italy) and sell them on the Spanish market.
Is Fastmount only for boats?
No. Although Fastmount was born in the marine sector, its applications have expanded enormously: commercial architecture, hotels, restaurants, retail, offices, motorhomes, recreational vehicles, hospitals, auditoriums and high-end furniture. The SLX range is specifically designed for plasterboard and architectural applications. The contract/hospitality sector is one of Fastmount's fastest-growing markets.
How much does a Fastmount clip cost?
The price of a pair of Fastmount clips (male + female) starts from 0.77 EUR per piece in the Very Low Profile range up to about 8 EUR in the Metal or Stratlock ranges. The cost per square metre depends on the range (8-18 pairs per m2 depending on the type of clip) and the weight of the panel. As a guide, fitting a 1 m2 panel with Standard clips costs approximately 20-35 EUR in materials. Compared with the total cost of an interior design project, invisible fixing is a tiny fraction of the budget.

Is it worth paying more for Fastmount than for magnets or Z-clips?
If the project requires a professional finish, precise alignment, vibration resistance, long-term durability or compliance with safety regulations, yes. The cost difference between a 0.50 EUR magnet and a 1 EUR Fastmount clip is insignificant compared with the total cost of the panel, the labour and the final result. If you only need to hang a picture in the garage, probably not.
