Frequently Asked Questions about Fastmount (FAQ)
General
What is Fastmount?
Fastmount is a concealed panel fixing system invented in New Zealand in 2004. It uses male-female clip pairs that allow decorative, access or functional panels to be installed and removed without tools and with perfect alignment. It is the world standard in superyacht interiors and is increasingly used in architecture and interior design.

Does Fastmount replace Velcro?
Yes. Fastmount was invented precisely to replace Velcro and other inferior fixing systems in yacht interiors. Unlike Velcro, Fastmount offers perfect alignment, greater durability, vibration resistance and a completely concealed professional finish.
Technical
How many clips do I need per panel?
As a general rule, a minimum of 4 clips per panel (one in each corner) is recommended. For large or heavy panels, add intermediate clips every 30-40 cm. Our technical team can help you with the exact calculation based on the dimensions and weight of your panels.
Are Fastmount clips reusable?
Yes. The clips are designed for thousands of installation and removal cycles. They do not wear out with normal use.
Can I mix clips from different ranges?
No. Male and female clips must be from the same range (Standard with Standard, LP with LP, etc.). They are not interchangeable between ranges.
Are Fastmount clips fire-rated?
Some versions are. The Very Low Profile, Stratlock and SLX ranges offer Fire Rated (FR) versions that comply with marine (SOLAS/MED) and architectural fire regulations.
On which materials can I install Fastmount?
Self-tapping clips work in solid timber, plywood, MDF, composite and similar materials. Surface-mount clips can be used on any smooth surface (metal, glass, plastic, plasterboard) with adhesive or screws. The Metal range works directly on metal substrates.
Do I need special tools?
For basic installation you only need a standard drill with a bit of the right size. Fastmount offers specialised carbide drill bits and installation tools that make the job easier and improve accuracy. The CT-08 Yard Kit is ideal for shipyards and professionals working with the Standard range.
Comparisons
What is the difference between Standard, Low Profile and Very Low Profile?
The main difference is the space required between the panel and the structure. Standard needs more space, Low Profile less, and Very Low Profile the minimum possible. The lower the profile, the closer the panel sits to the structure.
When should I use Stratlock instead of individual clips?
Use Stratlock when you need position adjustment before fixing the panel, or for heavy panels that require maximum shear resistance. The rail system lets you slide the panel into the perfect position.
What is the difference between Stratlock and SLX?
Stratlock uses an aluminium rail system for maximum adjustability. SLX uses individual clips but with greater versatility on substrates (plasterboard, plywood) and is the best option for architectural projects where the rail system is not needed.
